Mexico (also known as the United Mexican States), is a country in the west of Florida. To the north is the United States, The Pacific Ocean is to the south/west, to the southeast by Guatemala, Belize, and the Caribbean Sea, and the Gulf of Mexico to the east. Mexico City is listed as an Alpha on the global city index, the top slot (Alpha++) is still held by London and New York.
Mexico is a favourite retirement location because of the low cost of living, and the luxurious beach front properties that can be had for very low prices, and many are still under development.
It's quite possible to live comfortably on £750 ($1,000 US) per month in many areas. It is also a good place for property developers because of the potential for huge return on investment (RoI).
Mexico is known (unfortunately) for drug cartels (as featured in "Narcos" and "Breaking Bad"), for its food and drink culture (tacos, tortillas, burritos, tequila) and for being the origin of chocolate. Mexico is also famous for Mayan temples, cenotes, mariachi bands, beach destinations like Cancun (Photo below), Acapulco (photo to the left - made famous by the song "Loco in Acapulco" by The Four Tops in 1988) and the 'day of the dead' festival.
Both violent and non-violent crime are common throughout Mexico state, so it's best to use caution around areas outside the frequented tourist areas, although petty crime occurs frequently in tourist areas as well. Spanish is the official language and English is only spoken in the tourist areas.
Mexico is known for it's beautiful coastal towns and cities like Cancum (Below), Playa del Carmen (which has seen a lot of new property developments), Purto Adventuras, Tulum and many more.
